What is it about the ancient Book of Enoch that stirs the imaginations of men? Was the Book of Enoch viewed as authentic Scripture by the early church? Does it really give us the names of the fallen angels, inside information on their great sin, and the details of their plea for mercy and ultimate imprisonment by God?
Is Enoch’s description of heaven and hell biblical? Did Enoch really meet Jesus when he was taken to Heaven and what did he call Him? Did Enoch take a tour of planet Earth in a celestial vehicle piloted by angels? Aha! Now we know why so many people are curious about this historical book. It stretches our minds and seems to fill in the gaps in the biblical accounts.
But since Enoch was not included in the original canon should we give it any credibility?
Therein lies the question. Can we trust the book we have today? Irenaeus, Justin Martyr and Tertullian seemed to think so, and Jude referenced the words of Enoch in his brief New Testament book. Fortunately for us, J.R. Church made it his personal mission to examine this book and get to the bottom of the mystery. The story behind J. R. and Gary’s scholarly study started some time ago. Over the years we’ve had many people request a copy of the Book of Enoch, but we’ve never been able to offer them a version we felt could be trusted. One day I found an Ethiopian translation with commentary written by a Baptist pastor. I thought I had found the Mother Lode, but as J. R. read it, he took issue with some of the commentary and decided not to offer the book.
I was disappointed, but right then and there J. R. told me he would clear up the confusion once and for all. He’d write his own commentary on Enoch! The exhaustive study has now been chronicled on 5 hours of video, and entitled, The Ancient Book of Enoch: The First Book Ever Written. J. R. and Gary took the ancient text apart, verse-by-verse, and determined what parts of the book can be trusted and what parts have been corrupted over the years.
This was one of J. R.’s last studies and I know he enjoyed playing the role of biblical detective. When Enoch claimed he took a tour of the Earth in a celestial vehicle, J. R. couldn’t wait to examine the aerial evidence and tell you all about Enoch’s trip around the world. J. R. and Gary compared Enoch’s work with their knowledge of science, geology, geography, history, and the Bible, and produced a credible commentary that can be trusted.
I’ve read Genesis 5:24 a few times. “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” I’ve strolled past the phrase, “walked with God” many times, assuming it was referencing Enoch as a man who walked closely with God in his daily life. But after listening to J. R. and Gary, I had to rethink things. Genesis 5:22 says “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. Am I reading this right? Enoch walked with God for three hundred years? What exactly does that mean? Could this be a reference to Enoch’s trip around the world where he described the rain forests, the secrets of the sun, moon, weather and wind, volcanoes, the Mississippi River, lightning bolts and believe it or not even the delicacies found in the Garden of Eden! Spectacular stuff. Some people even believe Enoch built the Great Pyramid with Divine help!
Enoch claims to have been written to those who find themselves in the Tribulation. He speaks eloquently of how the Jewish people will be persecuted until the very end. He tells us about the Lamb’s Book of Life, the strange birth of Noah, the lack of rain during the Tribulation Period and the strange signs in the heavens that will occur in that day. Enoch’s writings were so accurate that many argue that this book was written long after the fact, not thousands of years earlier. The Bible contains more than 100 quotes from the Book of Enoch demonstrating that Enoch’s book was written first. Now try and figure that one out!
Even ancient Persia, (modern Iran) does not escape Enoch’s vision. He identifies Iran as the nation that will lead an assault against God’s Chosen People. In reading Ezekiel chapter 38, is that so hard to believe?
All of this prophetic information is interesting, but I suspect most people find their imaginations kindled by the extensive commentary included on the fallen angels and their collective descent on Mount Hermon. Enoch claims that 200 of God’s angels committed the ultimate sin of cohabitating with the women of Earth, creating the soul-less race of giants we read about in Genesis 6. It seems that their genetic pollution of the human race was another attempt by Satan to thwart the birth of the Messiah and God’s perfect Creation.
According to Enoch the angels didn’t limit their corruption to just mankind. They altered the DNA of birds, beasts and fish as well,
producing giant creatures with massive appetites for flesh and blood. The fossil record bears this out. God responded by protecting Noah and his family in the Ark, and sending a flood that destroyed all life on Earth.
You won’t find a commentary like this anywhere else. This represents an entire year of J. R.’s life and the finished product pleased him very much. The words of Enoch ring true. He said, and I’ll paraphrase, “They sure won’t get bored reading my book. It will be like a good meal! Strange but true! Filet mignon for the soul!

The Ichthus Christian symbol (pictured to the right) was used in the first centuries after Christ's death, when Christians were persecuted by religious and political opponents. Christians suffered imprisonment, torture and horrifying death. The Ichthus (word for fish in Greek) was significant because the Greek letters in the
word represented the initials for Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior. It was used as a marker to let believers know where meetings were held and where to find help. Today, it still stands as a meaningful expression of the Christian faith.

Being a responsible Christian also means being a responsible and "informed" citizen. Over my lifetime, I've watched the American news media go from networks that actually cover the news by informing American citizens of the facts that are going on in our world to what it's become in today's world, which is for the most part, "personality contests, entertainment talk shows, all parroting the same script from one news network to the next, and lots of personal opinion". If your old enough to remember what the news "used" to be like 30 years ago, your going to LOVE this! If your not, your in for a treat. Below you'll find a daily news report by the best news organization I've seen to date in today's world. No opinions, no personality conflicts or contests and not done in a format that's basically been overall "entertainment talk shows" by our major news networks today.
We no longer see real investigative reporting or reporter's on these major news networks anymore either. Reporter's such as the one's who exposed the Watergate scandal back in the the 1970s. For those of you who are too young to know about this, here's basically what happened as cited by Wikipedia:
"The Watergate scandal was a political scandal during the 1970s in the United States resulting from the break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C., and the Nixon administration's attempted cover-up of its involvement. Effects of the scandal eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, the President of the United States, on August 9, 1974; the only resignation of a U.S. President. The scandal also resulted in the indictment, trial, conviction and incarceration of 43 people, including dozens of top Nixon administration officials.
The affair began with the arrest of five men for breaking and entering into the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate complex on June 17, 1972. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) connected the payments to the burglars to a slush fund used by the Committee for the Re-Election of the President, a fundraising group for the Nixon campaign.[1][2] As evidence mounted against the president's staff, which included former staff members testifying against them in an investigation conducted by the Senate Watergate Committee, President Nixon was revealed to have had a tape recording system in his offices and he had recorded many conversations.[3][4] Recordings from these tapes implicated the president, revealing he had attempted to cover up the break-in.[2][5] After a series of court battles, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the president had to hand over the tapes to government investigators; he ultimately complied.

I bring this up for one reason. It used to be that the media was a controlling force in deterring government corruption by exposing it to the American public with the effect of having the perpetrators brought to justice. This is no longer the case, at least it doesn't seem to be. If it were, they would have exposed all the laws that were broken back in 2000, when the Supreme Court effectively "appointed" George Bush, Jr. as President of the United States. I was a legal secretary at the time and our office was following each legal opinion and court ruling, reading them as they came out. As a result, we saw in black and white exactly what happened. What shocked me and the rest of the attorneys in my office back then, was that the major news networks never reported any of this to the American public and, as a result of that, most Americans were completely unaware of what had actually happened. It was corruption on the part of our Supreme Court of the highest level, and that should have NEVER been allowed to happen, considering they actually broke the law on many fronts in order to stop the legal counting of votes in the state of Florida. (See "The New York Times, July 15, 2001", article entitled "Supreme Injustice: How The High Court Hijacked Election 2000" to get a better picture of what happened and why it was not only illegal, but supremely unconstitutional at: http://homepages.rpi.edu/~winner/Dersch.html.) If you want to see exactly what happened, you can actually read the Dissenting Opinion of the four Justices of the Supreme Court who knew that what had happened was not only illegal, but unconstitutional at: http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/00-949.ZD1.html. Had the major television news network media stations covered this for what it really was and told the American population exactly what happened and why it was illegal, this corruption would have been exposed and the people involved might have been brought to justice just like as happened in the Watergate scandal. But the simple fact of the matter is that they didn't.
Why do I tell you this today? Because this type of corruption is still going on today. That coupled with the fact that I've been spending time looking at news reports from other countries and have found that the American public is not informed of many important things that are going on in our world today which makes many American citizens unwillingly ignorant of the facts so that people continue to get away with things that actually hurt American citizens and the United States on the whole. This is a dangerous thing for Americans not to pay attention to. Why? Because our media, throughout the history of the United States, HAS played such a major role in keeping our government and officials in check, that without their honesty and fair reporting, we actually had a President "appointed" to office rather than "elected" and nothing at all was done about it. This, allowed to go unchecked, could very well cost America it's freedoms that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to create - a country "for the people, by the people". Because of the censorship and skewing of information that we do currently get from our major news networks, many Americans have absolutely no idea of what's really happening here in American and around the world. Things that other countries report as major issues are completely ignored by our own major news media networks and things going on within the United States that "should" be being reported isn't happening anymore either. If we don't know what's happening, there absolutely nothing we can do to bring accountability to people in high places doing illegal things and that's dangerous.
Today, if you really want to know what's going on in our world and in the United States, you have to go to independent news reporter's who have been relegated, for the most part, to the internet. Why? Because there are about 6 major companies, all of who now own our major news networks that actually control what stories these networks can report on. At least that's what I think has happened and why we see such a dramatic change in "news" from just 30 years ago, and the people who have been paying attention to this believe the same thing I've expressed to you here today. When I first heard this, I didn't believe it until I looked it up and researched it myself. Here's what you find:
The U.S. media landscape is dominated by massive corporations that, through a history of mergers and acquisitions, have concentrated their control over what we see, hear and read. In many cases, these giant companies are vertically integrated, controlling everything from initial production to final distribution. CNN is owned by Time Warner, who is one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world with investments in a number of very successful media options which span publishing, films and television.
ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Company which is a subsidiary of Time Warner.
FOX News is owned by News Corp.
CBS is owned by CBS Corporation.
A&E is is a joint venture of Hearst Corporation, Walt Disney Company and NBC Universal.
Association of America’s Public TV Stations:
Comedy Central is owned by VIACOM.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is a non-profit corporation created by an act of the United States Congress, funded by the United States’ federal government to promote public broadcasting. Historically, 15~20% of the aggregate revenues of all public broadcasting stations have been funded from federal sources, principally through the CPB.
Court TV is owned by Turner Broadcasting, a subsidiary of Time Warner.
