Could you imagine, just for a moment, what it must have been like for these shepherds to not only "see" an angel from God, but then hear this incredible message, only to be followed by a "host" of heavenly angels all praising God???? I can only imagine that it must have been quite an event! How privileged these particular shepherds must have felt to be the ones to receive this glorious message and to see these heavenly angels of God! After, of course, their initial fear subsided!
People in the Bible who were confronted by God or His angels all had one consistent response - "fear". To each of them, God's response was always the same - "Don't be afraid". As soon as they sensed that God accepted them and wanted to communicate with them, their fear subsided. He had given them freedom to be His friends! Has He given you the same freedom? If you feel your answer is "no", then you need to get to know Him MUCH better! For God would have us ALL be in such a close relationship with Him, that we would not only consider ourselves His friend, but we would also consider Him "our" BEST friend in the world! This is the exact reason He sent Jesus, so that He COULD have this personal, intimate relationship with each and every one of us again! Through the work of what Jesus did for us, He made it possible for us all to have this awesome "reconsiled" relationship with God our Father, God our Creator!!! There is NO GREATER GIFT than this!

When you think about "who" God revealed Jesus' birth to, we see that He didn't reveal it to those who you would "think" God would do this with.
Instead of revealing the Messiah to the powerful or those in high places of power such as the King or the Priests of Israel, God chose to reveal this miraculous event to the humble instead. God continued to reveal His Son, but not to those we might expect. Luke records that Jesus' birth was announced to shepherds in the fields. These may have been the shepherds who supplied the lambs for the temple sacrifices that were performed for the forgiveness of sin. Here the angels invited these shepherds to greet the Lamb of God (John 1:36), Who would take away the sins of the whole world forever!

What a birth announcement! The shepherds were terrified, but their fear turned to joy as the angels announced the Messiah's birth. First the shepherds ran to see the baby; then they spread the word, Jesus is your Messiah, your Savior! Do you look forward to meeting Him in prayer and in His Word each day? If not, your missing out! This is where we as Christians, find all our peace, joy, contentment, love, wisdom and guidance from the Lord! We must seek Him each and every day, for without Him, we are robbed of all this without even knowing it!
Have you discovered a Lord so wonderful that you can't help sharing your joy with your friends? This is the real reason that all true Christians share their faith! They've found something so wonderful, so amazing, so undescribable, that they want everyone else to find this amazing joy of the Lord too! This kind of true joy can only come from salvation through Jesus Christ and being born again in His Spirit. The good news is that this is available to EVERYONE who wants it! Available to EVERYONE who will accept Him as their Lord & Savior! NOTHING here on earth can even come close to comparing what it's like to have this amazing, personal, daily relationship with our God! One must truly EXPERIENCE it to believe it themselves!

I've often viewed it as we're like cars and prayer with God's Word is our gas. I've often noticed that if I go a day without either, I find myself not running so good; and, too long without these things leaves me feeling empty and sad inside. What's happened is that my "car" has run out of "gas"! We must keep ourselves full of God's Word and in constant fellowship with Him in order to fully experience the gifts of His Spirit! "Full To Overflowing"
We read in today's Scripture verses, the greatest event in history had just happened! The Messiah had been born! For ages the Jews had waited for this, and when it finally occurred, the announcement came to humble shepherds. The good news about Jesus is that He comes to all, including the plain and the ordinary. He comes to anyone with a heart humble enough to accept Him! Whoever you are, whatever you do, you can have Jesus in your life! Don't think you need extraordinary qualifications - He accepts you as you are!
Now we know from history that many of the Jews were waiting for a savior to deliver them from Roman rule; others hoped the Christ (Messiah) would deliver them from physical ailments. But Jesus, while healing their illnesses and establishing a spiritual kingdom, delivered them from what they NEEDED to be delivered from MOST - "sin". His work is more far-reaching than anyone could have or still could imagine! Christ paid the price for sin and opened the way to peace with God! He offers us MUCH MORE than temporary political or physical changes - He offers us new hearts and new lives that will last for eternity!
The story of Jesus' birth also resounds with music that has inspired composers for over 2,000 years now! The angel's song is an all-time favorite. Often called the Gloria after its first word in the Latin translation, it is the basis of modern choral works, traditional Christmas carols, and ancient liturgical chants. So our message for the week is this: "Spend time with Jesus this week!" Every day, through prayer and study of His Word, get to know Him better! The better we come to know our Lord, the happier and more content we are in this life no matter WHAT'S going on - good or bad!
In fact, we have such an AWESOME, MIGHTY & LOVING God, that the more we come to know HIM, the more joy we find we have in our hearts! Also, while your doing this, ask God to "create in you a clean heart", and then just watch all the amazing things you will start to see Him do in and through your life! God gives us amazing miracles every single day! The question is, do you see His miracles in your own life? If not, that means you still need to get to know Him better. The closer we are to our Lord and the better we come to know Him, the more we also see how amazingly He works in our lives and the more we become thankful to Him! To be thankful for everything He does for us and for others is one of the keys of having a joyful life. But we can never come to this point without really knowing Him; and, the only way we can really get to know Him is through His Word and through prayer. So take time every single day to get to know Jesus better! He is truly AMAZING in every sense of the word!
